Inspiring the next Generation: BPE Collaborates with STEM South West in New Initiative
BPE is delighted to announce its involvement in an industry-sponsored interactive STEM exhibition in Cork in November showcasing STEM Careers and Activities in the South West region.
This free event, a collaboration between industry and academia, is specifically aimed at providing post primary students and their supporters (parents, teachers, guidance counsellors), as well as career changers and job seekers, with the opportunity to explore the benefits a STEM career can offer for their future.
BioPharma Engineering is delighted to be exhibiting at the event which will see over 2000 attendees on the day. The event will feature technology demonstrations showcasing STEM products and systems in action, career talks, expert panel and Q&A sessions, competitions and spot prizes, and will provide an opportunity for attendees to connect with people who work in STEM on a daily basis.

This isn’t the first STEM Initiative BPE has been involved in. Earlier this year, BPE delivered a 10 week-Engineering-in-a-Box programme in partnership with STEAM Education Ireland to the 5th class pupils in Ballintemple National School, Cork. The programme allowed BPE to connect with the local community and inspired children through fun and engaged learning. Alongside this, BPE also delivered an internal initiative with the children of BPE employees for Engineers Week last March.
STEM South West cluster was recently established to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) throughout the South West region. The STEM South West Executive Committee, comprising members from industry, Higher Education Institutes, local government, not-for-profit and the Southern Regional Skills Forum, is working with over 150 STEM stakeholders (education providers, MNCs, SMEs, government agencies, public/private initiatives) to identify and address problems facing the STEM Sector in the South West in the context of increased global uncertainty, Brexit and technological disruption.
